I was born in Atlantis, Florida January 7th 1967. I grew up in a small town in South Florida called Lake Park. It is located just north of West Palm Beach. While I was growing up my father, Brian Alan Manty worked as a chemist at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and my mother Barbara Adamson Manty worked as a school teacher teaching English. My mother is now retired and my father is currently self-employed.
When I was growing up I liked playing sports, especially football, basketball and tennis. My first introduction to computers was when my Father bought an Apple IIe. It was fun to play games on and I learned to program in Basic and Assembly langague on it, when I was in 7th grade.
I went to Florida State University in Tallahasse Florida and got a BS degreee in Computer Science. From there I went to work for a small educational Software Company called JHM Corporation. We wrote an educational program called Writing to Write for IBM.
About Four and half years later, I worked as a contractor for IBM's educational department in Boca Raton, Florida. After IBM's educational department moved to Atlanta, I worked as a contractor on OS/2 for the Power PC. In 1996 I started working at Compaq Computer Corporation. I began working as a contractor and then moved into a full-time position. Compaq was bought by Hewlett-Packard Corporation which I now work for as developer on a project called Insight Manager 7. I also am working on my own educational software company called MantyWeb that I started in September of 2003.
Jill and I have various hobbies, including studying the Bible, playing chess, dominoes and board games, watching movies and looking at antiques stores. We plan on playing tennis together after Joseph is born. I also love playing with my children: Matthew, Adam, and Hannah.
